DESCRIPTION:The New Havoline Supremes are a Twin Cities based band\,  featuring the legendary Mary Cutrufello on guitar and vocals\, and Dan Lowinger on guitar.  Formed in October of 2023\, the band plays a mix of classic country and Mary’s original tunes\, and features Greg Schutte (Ryan Bingham\, Mickey Hart\, Chasity Brown) on drums\, and Erik Lillestol (Cafe Accordion) on bass.\n\nMary Cutrufello\n\nWith 30 years of experience in the music business\, Mary Cutrufello is everything from Texas honky-tonk heroine and fiery Midwestern roots-rocker to a powerhouse acoustic performer. Connecticut-raised and Yale-educated\, Mary’s musical journey has taken her from the East Coast to Houston and now to Minnesota.  Career highlights include: the major label release of    ”When the Night is Through\,” on Mercury Records in 1998\, appearances on national tv shows such as Tonight Show with Jay Leno\, appearances at major festivals including Farm Aid\, and tours with Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Tish Hinojosa.  Mary has seven self-released albums\, and has played guitar locally for Annie Mack\, Michael Perry and the Long Beds\, and many others.\n\n\n\nDan Lowinger\, a transplant from Portland\, OR\, is a guitarist steeped in the tradition of Western swing and classic country. Since moving to the Twin Cities in 2017\, Dan has become a fixture in the local country and Americana scene\, playing on a regular basis with all star Western swing band Honky Tonk Jump\, and country rockers Cole Diamond\, while also sharing the stage with local greats\, Martin Zellar (Gear Daddies)\, Tony Andreason (The Trashmen)\, Pat Donohue (Prairie Home Companion) and many others! He has performed regionally and toured nationally with many different country and swing bands from the Pacific Northwest including: The Barn Door Slammers\, Ralph Carney’s Pepper Grinders\, Vince Mira\, and Western Centuries.

DESCRIPTION:“sublime poise and emotional power” – NPR\n  \nLucibela was born in 1986 on the island of São Nicolau\, Cabo Verde. A singer since birth\, Lucibela’s shaped her assured\, warm voice through years of assimilation of the sounds of morna and coladera. Then\, she joined a band while in high school and later sang in Boa Vista hotels. There\, she entertained tourists\, performing songs that the great singers of Cabo Verde made famous. For example\, Cesária Évora\, Titina or Bana. Furthermore\, she knew these songs by heart and made them her own. \nIn 2012\, she moved to Praia and soon attracted attention in the city’s music venues. Finally\, she broke through at the 2017 Atlantic Music Expo\, leading to invitations to Belgium and Lisbon. There\, she recorded her debut album with producer Toy Vieira\, Cesária Évora’s musical director. Thus\, she furthered her aim of carrying on the great diva’s legacy. \nRecommended for fans of Cesária Évora\, Tito Paris\, Titina and Bana.

MC Lyte first appeared on the scene in 1988 with her debut album Lyte As A Rock. At the tender age of 17 she began schooling other MCs in the art of rhyme. Since then\, she has proven that greatness always prevails with a total of ten albums to her credit. \nLyte is the first rap artist ever to perform at New York’s historic Carnegie Hall. Further\, she is the first female rapper to ever receive a gold single. Additionally\, she was the first female solo rapper ever nominated for a Grammy! There\, her inspiring 1993 classic anthem\, “Ruffneck\,” was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Single. Then\, her 2003 album Undaground Heat Vol.1\, hosted by Jamie Foxx\, garnered this rap legend her second Grammy nomination. Moreover\, the single “Ride Wit Me” also received a BET Award nomination for Best Female Rap Performance. In 2006\, MC Lyte became the first solo female rapper to be honored/inducted on VH1’s Hip-Hop Honors. \nLyte serves as a beautiful example that females can rock the mic just as well and oftentimes better than men. Also\, Lyte’s lyrical skills have also been tapped into by Hollywood. Johnson and John Coltrane are from different eras\, so it is comparatively rare for compositions from each to be placed next to each other. It’s possible they could have met\, for many of the circa-1950 NYC jazz musicians knew James P. personally\, and Coltrane’s first records with Miles Davis were made in 1955\, the year of Johnson’s death. This unique program is essentially two sets of etudes. Posterity remembers James P. Johnson for composing the anthem of the Jazz Age\, “The Charleston\,” although the jazz pianists still work on his serious stride piano classics like “Carolina Shout” for they are both very beautiful and very nutritious. It is uncommon for a modern jazz pianist to play James P. In concert; is also uncommon for a solo pianist to tackle themes from John Coltrane\, for part of the Coltrane style is a fierce and interactive rhythm section.
