Bethany Larson & The Bees Knees: Bethany Larson & The Bee’s Knees is one of Twin Cities best kept secrets as declared by Twin Cities Metro. Bethany grew up with three older brothers singing in the church choir. She picked up the guitar at fifteen, and during her college years she trained in classical voice. She now performs with her backing band, “The Bee’s Knees” – comprised of her brother Chris Larson on guitar, keyboard and backing vocals, Alicia Kay on bass and backing vocals, and Sara Horishnyk on drums. Johanna Mathews: Born and raised in Minnesota, Johanna Mathews has performed her original songs at some of the top venues throughout the Twin Cities for over 10 years. Her music is haunting, soulful, and contemplative. She seeks to create a space for processing what we feel but may not have words to express. She has released one indie-folk EP, titled Hank (her childhood nickname), and plans to release more music soon!

Steve Kenny Quintet Coltrane Show
Main Stage Showroom 6161 Hwy 65 NE, MinneapolisDinner and cocktail seating and service begins 1 hour before showtimes. Jazz, John Coltrane The Steve Kenny Quintet plays the music of John Coltrane, exploring his most popular works with power and spirituality. Steve Kenny – TrumpetDave Brattain – SaxophonesKavyesh Kaviraj – PianoTed Olsen – BassKevin Washington – Drums “Steve Kenny Quintet Coltrane Show” is a special very high energy and high spiritual performance of some of the more powerful compositions by John Coltrane. It Features Kevin Washington on drums, a noted Coltrane scholar and one of the most famous Minnesota Jazz musicians. Dave Brattain, on saxophones, reprises his storied membership in this experience and does an amazing job channeling the vibe and fireworks of the late great saxophone master. Kavyesh Kaviraj, while emerging as the hands-down best Jazz pianist in Minnesota, is gifted in his interpretation of this Coltrane material, which was sometimes as much about McCoy Tyner’s piano brilliance as it was about Coltrane’s. This show has sold out its previous appearances at kj’s hideaway. This is a wonderful chance to hear this material played by these musicians in the idyllic setting of Crooners’ main room. Steve Kenny is active in the Minnesota Jazz community as a Performer, Composer, and Curator. Steve is a founding member of ‘the illicit sextet’, “Group 47”, “What Would Monk Do?” and his own “Quartets”. Steve was the curator of a weekly Saturday Jazz series at kj’s hideaway, and before that at the Black Dog Café, producing over 500 Saturday Night Jazz shows. His latest recording, “Quartets”, includes original compositions played by 4 separate ensembles of Twin Cities Jazz musicians, including a Live version of Steve Kenny’s Ghost Suite. in 2019 the national Jazz Journalists Association named Steve as a “Minnesota Jazz Hero” for his work in the Jazz community and lifelong devotion to the Idiom.
