Featuring Ginger Commodore and her dynamic trio, this performance showcases music from leading bandleaders of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s. Expect a lively mix as they swing, bebop, and groove to the sounds that bop, before smoothing it all out. The set includes music from legendary groups like The Bill Evans Trio and The Oscar Peterson Trio, along with popular tunes from trio songwriting teams, and vocals from jazz icons like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sarah Vaughan. This is the story of eight women tellers who walked off their jobs at The Citizens National Bank in Willmar, creating the first bank strike in American history. Mary Beth has created a series of television productions for HBO, NBC, CBS, and Lifetime Channel and is currently finishing a documentary about her uncle: “Gene McCarthy: Alone in the Land of the Aardvarks.” Rachel Kurtz has a magnetic stage presence. With her powerhouse voice, Rachel has found acclaim and a national audience with her appearances at community service events held in sports arenas raising awareness for world hunger, hurricane relief, and multi-cultural reconciliation.
