They combine poignant lyrics with, jangly guitars, and memorable melodies to create a garage band sound that is reminiscent of Tom Petty, Big Star, and Bruce Springsteen. The Del-Viles: Rhythm and Blues and Garage. Skeleton dance lessons from French pirates. The Makeouts: Led by songwriter Make Keene, the Makeouts have been an outlet for Make’s eclectic influences since his 2019 EP “Haymaker”. On his upcoming album “Beware the Flowers”, Make and the Makeouts whip up a sound of messy but handsome guitars, haunting vocals, swinging drums and luring bass grooves. Songs about love, dark alleys, and running out of gas. The kind of sound that reminds you that the Hope diamond used to be Dinosaur bones.

They got their start over the pandemic, exploring the abstract video genre, racertrash. The hobby soon turned into a passion (they might say obsession), and they have since acquired a variety of new technology that allows them to create glitchy, nostalgic, music-reactive visuals that add pizzazz to any live show. They pride themselves on being almost completely analog, using synthesizers to mix and generate sources by hand. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
