Jazz is something that’s always be inspiring to Johnnie, and it wasn’t until hearing Gregory Porter that he’s felt more compelled. This show is a transitional performance, that will highlight Johnnie’s versatility and further encourage his musical ambitions, while honoring the music of Gregory Porter.

Johnnie Brown (and his seven siblings) was raised in Mississippi and first began singing as a member in the choir of his fathers church. Johnnie was later encouraged by friends and family to take singing more seriously. Johnnie being introduced to secular music attributes his love for music to the many great legends of R&B, Soul and Pop Music of the 70s, 80s and 90s. Johnnie using the substance of his sound, along with support of the many prestigious establishments with re-occurring performances, honors those legends like Teddy Pendergrass, Lou Rawls, and Lionel Richie that inspired his singing career, aiming to keep the integrity of their memories and music alive and relevant to our time.
This is Johnnie Brown’s debut tribute performance paying homage to the music of the incomparable Gregory Porter. Featuring songs like “Painted on Canvas”, “Take Me To the Alley”, “Be Good” (Lions Song), and more.
