Swing Brunch with Patty and the Buttons $6
Patty and The Buttons preach the gospel of hot rhythm and happy feet. The band is similar to what you would find in a dance hall, cafe or nightclub anywhere around the world between 1920-1940. Despite being an ensemble firmly rooted in tradition, the band presents their music without being shackled to history. They play their own compositions as well as takes on music of the era. Patty’s eclectic taste gives the band diverse influences including New Orleans Traditional Jazz, Western Swing, Gypsy Melodies, Ragtime Piano Blues, Jug Music and 1930′s Popular Song. The core instrumentation of accordion, clarinet, guitar and bass is light and swift, but also melancholic and lush when it needs to be. Patty, mostly known as an accordionist doubles as the bands vocalist. His voice is inspired most by the old time hollers and croons from the dawn of recording once described as “Tom Waits meets Rudy Vallee.” More than anything, The Buttons is a group that is always enjoying themselves… Which seems to give audiences permission to do the same.

Celebrating the Ladies of Lilith Fair w/ Katia Cardenas & The Ladyrock Band
Dinner and drinks service starts 90 minutes before showtimes. Acoustic Alt Rock & Pop Katia Cardenas is celebrating the mind-blowing lineup of ladies who played at Lilith Fair, including Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Paula Cole, Tracy Chapman, and many more! Lilith Fair, founded by Sarah McLachlan, was a traveling music festival and concert tour that featured almost exclusively female performers from 1997 to 1999, and again in 2010, with the goal of challenging the male-dominated music industry. Twin Cities jazz and R&B vocalist Katia Cardenas performs with an all-female band, sharing memories of that pivotal time in music history and honoring the iconic artists who paved the way for so many since. Katia Cardenas: Lead VocalsBarb Brynstad: Bass, Backup VocalsJenny Case: Guitar, Backup VocalsChristine Passig: Piano, Backup VocalsBeth Varela: Drums Katia Cardenas inspires audiences with her sultry, soulfull voice and infectious energy and presence. Possessing an impeccable range and dynamic style, Katia grew up in a musical family, and her professional training came largely “on the job,” throughout high school and college. Katia has since appeared at The Dakota, kj’s hideaway, the “Saturday Night Jazz” Series, and The Twin Cities Jazz Festival. Katia has also sung with show bands across the region including the Casablanca Orchestra, Sonically Speaking, Boogie Wonderland and Blue Water Kings. Her connection to the Twin Cities music scene dates back to the 1980s when her dad, Mark Cardenas, played keyboards for Morris Day & The Time in the film Purple Rain, and with Jesse Johnson’s Review. Katia is passionate about music education and the arts, working as a Program Director at Walker West Music Academy in St. Paul, and heading up their Women in Jazz Initiative. Throughout the last 18 months, Katia and guitarist Jenny Case (Co-founder & Artistic Director of She Rock She Rock) have partnered to advocate for gender justice in the Twin Cities music scene through events with their respective non-profit organizations, including She Rock’s bi-monthly All Ages Open Jams open women, non-binary and trans musicians of all skill levels, hosted at Walker West. All are welcome to attend! Visit Sherocksherock.org for future dates. “Katia Cardenas has long since been embraced by elders and peers alike. This is due mostly to raw talent, but she has an affability and charm that is impossible to resist.” (Kevin O’Connor, Jazz 88/KBEM 88.5 FM )

Wonderful Tonight, the Music of Eric Clapton with Vinnie Rose
Wonderful Tonight, the Music of Eric Clapton with Vinnie Rose
Welcome to Crooners Classics – every Wednesday will have a 5:30 PM show highlighting a classic act from music history! Wednesday’s Crooners Classics Eric Clapton Tribute Minnesota native and singer/songwriter Vinnie Rose, joined by his two longtime musical collaborators, Graydon Peterson (bass) and Adrian Suarez (drums + percussion), present the music of Eric Clapton. Vinnie Rose, vocals, guitarGraydon Peterson, bassAdrian Suarez, drums, percussion Vinnie Rose had only started on the guitar in the Spring of 1992 at 12 years old when just months later Eric Clapton’s now infamous MTV “Unplugged” performance was recorded, given regular airtime on MTV, and subsequently released on CD. The music had a lasting influence on Rose and became the bedrock for his passion for guitar, and served as a launching point for studying blues, classical and jazz guitar styles. Three decades later Vinnie returns to his early guitar roots with “Wonderful Tonight” showcasing both major hits and deep cuts of the indelible blues music of Eric Clapton. “Wonderful Tonight” will feature many songs from the 1992 Unplugged album as well as songs from Eric Clapton’s earlier stints with Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos and songs from his subsequent solo albums. Vinnie, Graydon, and Adrian have joyfully created music together for over 20 years. Their focused, whimsical style makes for both a captivating, yet relaxed performance atmosphere. www.vinnierose.com

David Singley and Pure Source
David Singley and Pure Source
Dinner and drinks service starts 1 hour before showtimes. Singer-Songwriter, Americana, Folk-Rock David Singley reimagines his original singer-songwriter material as a power trio with Chris Bates & Greg Schutte. David Singley: Electric & Acoustic Guitars, Vocals Chris Bates: Bass Greg Schutte: Drums Born and raised in rural central Illinois, David Singley is a singer-songwriter- guitarist living in Saint Paul, Minnesota, whose music is born of the street, the country, and the academy. An experienced veteran with decades of backing world-class artists and performers, he has recently joined the “Great Resignation” and set his sights on his own artistic pursuits. His music evokes the golden era of the singer-songwriter: the late ’60’s and early-to-mid ’70’s; with its chameleonic stylistic twists and turns, as well as its memorable melodies and insightful, poetic lyrics. His music expresses a point-of- view that is at once highly personal and triumphantly global. His voice evokes traces of many of his influences: James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, Jackson Browne, Dan Fogelberg, and many others. His guitar playing is at once highly focused and passionate, impressive yet always absolutely appropriate to the song at hand. His two singer-songwriter albums, 2021’s “The Long, Slow Fuse of Night”, and 2024’s “Fools & Mystics”, have received significant radio airplay, and praise from the music press. He has multiple music videos on his YouTube channel with over 100k views, including three over 200k and one over 300k views. His credits include: Perry Como, Gene Pitney, Bobby Caldwell, Bob Brookmeyer, Tal Farlow, Dave Weckl and many others. “He favors thoughtful, even poetic, material that connects with audiences, possesses bracing directness, and eschews any hint of pretentiousness…Fools & Mystics should garner him new listeners and reaffirm longtime fans’ belief that he’s one of the best songwriters working today. You may have never heard of him, but you can redress that oversight today.”—Skope Magazine www.davidsingley.com
