Then\, after attending different colleges\, they reconvened\, moved into an apartment together\, and started trying to produce other musicians. \nThey developed an act covering hip-hop songs on their violins\, which became popular in local clubs. Two years after sending in a tape to Showtime at the Apollo\, the show invited to appear— which they won\, and kept winning. Join them for an unforgettable night that celebrates growth\, music\, and the beauty of coming full circle. \nThe members of Black Violin met on the first day of orchestra class in 1996. There\, they both attended Dillard High School of the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale. (Baptiste originally wanted to play saxophone in the band. However\, the orchestra teacher assigned him to his class after winning a golf bet with the band instructor.) Classically trained by day\, they faithfully put on their headphones and listened to the hottest rap records each night. Then\, after attending different colleges\, they reconvened\, moved into an apartment together\, and started trying to produce other musicians. \nThey developed an act covering hip-hop songs on their violins\, which became popular in local clubs. Two years after sending in a tape to Showtime at the Apollo\, the show invited to appear— which they won\, and kept winning. Since then\, they’ve worked with Alicia Keys\, Alessia Cara\, 2 Chainz\, Lil Wayne\, Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park)\, and more. \nRecommended for fans of 2Cellos\, Lindsey Stirling\, The String Queens and Damien Escobar.

DESCRIPTION:Pete McCauley and Tim Cheesebrow are a duo from the Twin Cities\, bringing old tunes to life and having a great time doing it. \nPete McCauley (vocals\, mandolin\, guitar): Pete has played in numerous bands over the years. A founding member and the original guitarist for the rock trio Eddie Mac\, he spent a few years traveling the country\, earned a record contract with SPV Records in Germany\, and released two albums with the independent label Mud Hut Records. Pete also writes material for the Hounds of Finn. Pete met Tim a few years back and asked if they should learn some pub tunes and make some noise together…the rest\, as they say\, is history. Not the kind of history that would make it into any sort of book\, but since it is in the past\, it technically is…history. \nTim Cheesebrow (guitar\, vocals\, occasional mandolin and pennywhistle): Tim is primarily a singer/songwriter. He’ s got 6 or so albums under his belt\, several tours and an extensive solo performance career. He’s always had a spot in his heart for traditional Irish and American folk songs\, and jumped at a chance to play this music with Pete. He’s the founder of Discover Music\, a non-profit that teaches kids to write songs as a healthy mode of self discovery and expression\, and is the author of “Songwriting for Wellness: Using Music to Heal the Mind.” \nfacebook page
