SUMMARY:The Devon Allman Project:
DESCRIPTION:“Allman has found a way to extend his family’s amazing musical lineage on his own terms.” – Premier Guitar\n  \nDevon Allman’s sound lands right in the middle of some of the most soulful rock. Here\, Allman celebrates twenty years since the release of his first album and national tour. Additionally\, this special show will include material from each of Devon’s projects. These include The Allman Betts Band\, Devon Allman’s Blues Summit\, Royal Southern Brotherhood\, Honey Tribe\, and Devon Allman & Donavon Frankenreiter’s Rollers. Also\, they will play select Allman Brothers songs. \nDevon Allman gained wide recognition through projects such as Honey Tribe and later as co-founder of Royal Southern Brotherhood. There\, this supergroup-style ensemble showcased his soulful vocals and guitar work alongside other acclaimed musicians. Devon has built an independent career that honors the jam band and blues traditions. Meanwhile\, he maintains a modern\, polished tone and original songwriting voice. \nHere\, he has released multiple albums and toured extensively. Thus\, he earned a reputation for dynamic live shows\, strong musicianship\, and a style that blends blues\, rock\, soul\, and improvisational “jam” elements into a distinctive contemporary Southern sound. \n  \n \nSince 2018\, GA-20 has been at the forefront of a traditional Blues revival. The dynamic throwback trio have long been disciples of the place where traditional Blues\, Country and Rock ‘n’ Roll intersect. “We make records that we would want to listen to\,” says guitarist Matt Stubbs. “It’s our take on the song-based traditional electric Blues we love.” Stubbs\, along with guitarist & vocalist Cody Nilsen and drummer Josh Kiggans\, strive to bring traditional Blues to the front lines of the modern roots music scene. “The focus for us has always been on the story\, the melody\, and on creating a mood\,” Stubbs continues. “Traditional Country and Soul have all had these massive recent revivals. We want to be part of doing that for traditional Blues music.”  \nGA-20 has drawn inspiration for their old-school sounds from the music they love by artists such as Otis Rush\, J.B. Lenoir\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Junior Wells\, Hound Dog Taylor\, Earl Hooker\, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson and so many others. Performing with what feels like reckless abandon\, GA-20 brings a timeless immediacy to every song they play with a sound that continues to grow and evolve. The band uses vintage instruments and amps to produce their authentic sound\, and favours traditional recording techniques\, like recording live off the floor together in one room\, to help recreate that energy and sonic connection.  \nIn their short history\, GA-20 have been 3x #1 Billboard Blues chart toppers\, 4x Boston Music Award winners for Best Blues Act\, and have received multiple wins and nominations at the Blues Music Awards\, Blues Blast Awards\, New England Blues Awards\, and have ascended streaming and radio charts at home and internationally. Medium.com has appropriately declared\, “This is the kind of music that travels through time while taking from the era where it was born and turning it into something fresh. Dirty and raw…timeless and modern.” \nRecommended for fans of The Allman Brothers\, Tab Benoit\, Tedeschi Trucks Band and The Black Crowes. \n📸: Venla Shalin

SUMMARY:Davina and The Vagabonds at Dakota
DESCRIPTION:“This music\, as retro as it may be at times\, feels fun\, frisky and alive.” – American Songwriter\nDavina Sowers and the Vagabonds have created a stir on the national music scene. Their high-energy live shows feature level-A musicianship\, sharp-dressed professionalism and Sowers’ commanding stage presence. Also\, their influences range from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits. Moreover\, the band is converting audiences one show at a time\, from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe. \nMuch like the music\, the story spurns era\, expectation and classification. The often unbelievable\, sometimes harrowing\, and wholly inspiring journey of Davina Sowers gave birth to her eponymous band in 2004. As the tale goes\, she grew up in the economically depressed Allegheny town of Altoona\, PA. She now describes the town as “awesome in the industrial era\, but horrible for high school.” Then\, she was adopted by her stepfather when he was in his 80s; he passed when she was just 13. Through him and his Edison phonograph\, she first heard the music that would start her journey. For example\, The Ink Spots\, Sidney Bechet\, Louis Armstrong\, Louis Prima\, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and many others. “Great man. He was my angel and still is\,” she says. \nOn her own\, she vividly recalls hours in front of the record player at home. There\, she religiously spun Led Zeppelin\, Black Sabbath and Simon and Garfunkel records belonging to her folk singer mom. \nTo this day\, Davina still refers to music as “my first and eternal love.” Despite early dalliances with classical piano and guitar\, she developed a heavy drug habit in high school. Further\, this morphed into heroin dependency\, left her homeless\, sent her in and out of jail and brought on all manner of trouble. Kicking dope on the streets\, she “got clean\, started the band and worked [her] ass off every day since.” \nRecommended for fans of Pokey LaFarge\, Preservation Hall Jazz Band\, The Hot Sardines and Squirrel Nut Zippers.

SUMMARY:Joyann Parker Band
DESCRIPTION:“dynamically emotional and goosebumps-inducing voice” – Jon Bream\, Star Tribune\n  \nJoyann Parker is a roots and soul singer-songwriter featuring powerhouse vocals and emotionally rich\, genre-blending sound. Moreover\, she has become one of the most compelling independent artists in today’s modern roots landscape. Here\, Parker pairs raw vocal authority with deeply human storytelling. Further\, she draws from blues\, gospel\, jazz\, R&B\, and vintage Americana\, with electrifying live performances and unwavering authenticity. Thus\, she has built a devoted fanbase through craft\, connection\, and emotional honesty. Her albums Out of the Dark (2021) and Roots (2023) both charted on the Billboard Blues chart. There\, this achievement is driven entirely by her fan community and is a defining milestone in her career. \nParker’s next chapter arrives with 2026’s Life Lines. Now\, the album represents a bold evolution in her artistry. Parker is inspired by the stories written across our lives\, memories\, and in the lines we carry as we age. Furthermore\, the album is rooted in a lived-in\, vintage aesthetic shaped by the sounds of the 1970s. For example\, Life Lines counts Tom Petty\, the Eagles\, Linda Ronstadt\, Van Morrison\, and Albert King as influences. \nBlending soul\, rock\, blues\, and Americana\, the record feels both timeless and immediate. “It’s a reminder that getting older is a gift\,” Parker says. “Every line has a story\, and I’m learning to wear mine with gratitude.” Additionally\, the album showcases some of Parker’s most emotionally honest songwriting to date. Standout tracks include “Think of Me\,” written to her children as a reflection on young motherhood\, healing\, and forgiveness. Also\, “Got Love\,” an uplifting anthem inspired by a close friend’s recovery journey. Anchored by up-tempo grooves\, rich harmonies\, and Parker’s unmistakably soulful voice\, Life Lines invites listeners to move\, reflect\, and feel deeply. \nRecommended for fans of Morgan James\, Shemekia Copeland\, Janiva Magness and Ruthie Foster.
