SUMMARY:Peter Himmelman
DESCRIPTION:“One of rock’s most wildly imaginative performers.” – USA Today\n  \nTo a standard-bearer like Peter Himmelman\, writing\, recording\, and releasing new music is an essential part of living. For example\, former Rolling Stone senior editor Parke Puterburgh recently referenced his consistent output in Stereo Review. Himmelman “is on the same plane as Elvis Costello\, Graham Parker\, and Bruce Springsteen and nudging his way to ‘Dylanhood’”. \nHimmelman’s latest\, 2020’s Press On\, captures the immediacy of Himmelman’s new songs. Further\, it leaves his fervent vocals and guitar front and center. There\, the recording process for Press On took just under four days. However\, writing the songs\, refining them\, and deciding which of his more than forty new songs would make the final cut\, began over three years prior.  \nFor Himmelman\, songwriting has long been a process of self-discovery. “There are technical tricks one needs to master. But for me the real work lies in transcending the mechanics of songwriting\, and inhabiting that space beyond the rational mind\,” he says.  \nThe music on Press On is both emotionally and musically varied\, from R&B-flavored piano ballads to incessant New Orleans funk. At times\, Himmelman’s steely Telecaster is reminiscent of two of his principal influences — Howlin’ Wolf and John Lee Hooker. There\, it threads itself through lyrics that seem culled from our current moment. \n“Press On is tellingly titled and deeply considered\, a further example of Himmelman’s ability to go below the surface of any circumstance and find wisdom\, revelation\, and empowerment in the process.” — American Songwriter \nRecommended for fans of Martin Zellar\, Glen Phillips\, Tina Schlieske and John Wesley Harding.

SUMMARY:Happy Birthday\, Pops! with the Southside Aces
DESCRIPTION:Doors will open at 5:30 PM for Dinner and Drink Service.\n\n\nSouthside Aces Celebrate Louis Armstrong\nThis year we celebrate the 125th anniversary of the birth of Louis Armstrong! Join Southside Aces as they pay tribute to their New Orleans roots with a special birthday edition of the Crescent City’s most famous son. During his nearly fifty-year recording career\, Louis charted in the Top Twenty over 50 times. Southside Aces will perform his everlasting hits in this special show\, including songs off their July 16th vinyl release\, The Big Beat. Come celebrate the genius and ebullience of the man who changed music forever. \nTony Balluff: Clarinet \nDan Eikmeier: Trumpet\, Vocals \nEric Johnson: Trombone \nErik Jacobson: Sousaphone \nRobert Bell: Guitar \nDave Michael: Drums \nSouthside Aces are a Twin Cities institution. For twenty-three years they’ve brought to life the early New Orleans of Jelly Roll Morton\, the Chicago joys of Louis Armstrong\, the evocative compositions of the young Duke Ellington\, on up to the barrel house sounds of Preservation Hall and the early rock and roll of Fats Domino. Their belief in the contemporary vitality of New Orleans music led to the 2022 release of their eighth album\, Minneapolis Bump\, adding fifteen originals to the jazz canon. 2026 has seen the release of two more albums: Les Oignons\, the band’s spotlight on the music of Sidney Bechet\, and The Big Beat\, their first on vinyl\, and the album you most want to spin at your next New Orleans party. Treat yourself to a century’s worth of New Orleans Jazz. \n“The performers are virtuosi and flawlessly replicate the sound of classic New Orleans…The concert was wonderful and demonstrates the continued vitality of this sort of music.” John Beckmann—Prairie Uprising\nwww.southsideaces.com

SUMMARY:Spyro Gyra
DESCRIPTION:“these… grooves are state-of-the-art” – All About Jazz\n  \nIn 2024\, Jay Beckenstein and band started its observation of the fiftieth anniversary of the band. What started as a diversion\, something that was just for fun (and twenty-five cents at the door) continues its evolution into 2025. It began inauspiciously when Beckenstein and a few musician friends in Buffalo\, NY organized a get together on their shared night off from working in bands that actually made money. It was a simple\, humble idea with a name that was likewise simple and humble\, “Tuesday Night Jazz Jam”.  \nFast forward fifty years and this jazz super-group has released over thirty albums\, garnering gold and platinum along the way. They’ve played over 10\,000 concerts on six continents. Further\, Spyro Gyra has maintained its standards of excellence. Thus\, these standards have sustained them on the “A list” of live attractions in jazz for fifty years. Renowned bass player Will Lee once referred to the ensemble as a “well-oiled road machine” as a tribute to their daunting schedule\, bringing their music to fans around the globe. \nFans of the band are familiar with the group’s rise to international prominence from humble beginnings in Buffalo\, New York. That’s when a few area musicians arranged for a weekly gig of playing less commercial music on everyone’s night off. Soon the word got around; the core group was joined by many musicians to come and have fun. And customers started showing up\, too\, prompting the club owner to press Beckenstein for a band name. Beckenstein offered up this late night\, tipsy answer\, “You can call it ‘spirogyra’”\, algae he had studied once. The next week\, he came back and there it was\, misspelling and all\, and so it began in 1974. \nRecommended for fans of Return to Forever\, Yellowjackets\, David Sanborn and Brecker Brothers. \n📸: David White

SUMMARY:The Songbook of Carly Simon\, Bonnie Raitt & Rosanne Cash
DESCRIPTION:Doors will open at 5:30 PM for Dinner and Drink Service.\n\n\nThe Voices Who Shaped Our Sound\nBefore “singer-songwriter” became a genre\, Carly Simon\, Bonnie Raitt\, and Rosanne Cash were already redefining what popular music could express — creating songs that were fearless\, literate\, vulnerable\, emotionally complex\, and unmistakably personal. For Dennis Curley and James A. Rocco\, their music became more than a soundtrack — it became a lasting artistic influence\, shaping not only what they sing\, but how they approach storytelling\, vulnerability\, and connection with an audience. Featuring classics such as “You’re So Vain\,” “Nick of Time\,” “Haven’t Got Time for the Pain\,” “Angel From Montgomery\,” “I Can’t Make You Love Me\,” “Seven Year Ache\,” and many more\, this evening is both a tribute and a thank-you to artists whose work continues to resonate far beyond the moment it was written. The Songbook of Carly Simon\, Bonnie Raitt & Rosanne Cash celebrates three extraordinary artists who helped transform the American songbook by telling the truth out loud. Intimate seating — limited availability. \nJames A. Rocco: Vocals \nDennis Curley: Vocals \nAndy Fleser: Keyboard \nAndy LaCasse: Guitar \nKris Stauffer: Bass \nMarc Bohn: Drums \nJames A. Rocco is a Broadway veteran and recording artist whose career has taken him from starring in CATS on Broadway to touring the U.S.\, Japan\, and Paris in Duke Ellington’s Sophisticated Ladies\, to performing as a guest vocalist with Herbie Hancock. With a catalog of recordings available across all streaming platforms\, Rocco brings decades of major-stage experience to every performance. He is known for evenings that blend emotional honesty\, humor\, and deeply personal connection with audiences. More at JamesRocco.com \nDennis Curley performs annually in Table Salt Productions’ Spiked! and the Celtic Junction’s Celtic Holiday Hooley\, and tours the Upper Midwest with Country Roads: Dennis Curley Sings the Music of John Denver and Parrothead Paradise (a Jimmy Buffett tribute). He is part of the all-original Americana band Honeywine (HoneywineBand.com) and is co-founder and executive producer of Table Salt Productions (TableSaltProductions.com). SUMMARY:Grace Kelly
DESCRIPTION:“tenacious… clearly in possession of virtuoso talents” – New York Times\n  \nGrace Kelly is an unequivocal musical prodigy: a singer-saxophonist-songwriter-composer and bandleader. Also\, she has rocked the jazz world through sold-out concerts and fifteen acclaimed albums. Further\, her resume includes performing at the Hollywood Bowl and joining the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – all before reaching her mid-twenties. In 2022\, Berklee College of Music’s Board of Trustees named her its youngest member.  \nGrace’s early career highlights include performing at Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration at age sixteen. Additionally\, at fourteen she performed as a soloist with the Boston Pops\, playing an original composition with the legendary orchestra. Since then\, she has led her band in over 1\,000 shows across thirty-five countries. Moreover\, she’s performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center\, Moscow Symphony Hall\, and international jazz festivals. Critics tout her scorching saxophone stylings and purring vocals\, and she has performed and recorded with renowned artists. Here\, these include Lin Manuel-Miranda\, Dave Brubeck\, Lee Konitz\, Phil Woods\, Huey Lewis\, Harry Connick Jr.\, and Jon Batiste. Also\, Gloria Estefan\, Questlove\, and Wynton Marsalis. \nGrace’s latest release\, 2024’s At The Movies: Grace Kelly with Strings\, was inspired by Charlie Parker with Strings. This remains one of Grace’s all-time favorite albums. Additionally\, the album reflects her love of classic and contemporary movies. Here\, she reimagines some of her favorite movie music as well as songs by legendary film composers. Furthermore\, fresh arrangements showcase her signature sound.  \n“Grace Kelly plays with intelligence\, wit and feeling. She has a great amount of natural ability and the ability to adapt. That is the hallmark of a first-class jazz musician.” – Wynton Marsalis  \n“A highly accomplished musician with a charismatic and contagiously uplifting stage presence.” – Jon Batiste \nRecommended for fans of Joshua Redman\, Emmet Cohen\, Christian McBride and Branford Marsalis.
