Glover combines live jazz music and percussive movement for an expressive celebration of sound. Here\, Glover acts as lead dancer and drummer! At this performance\, he’ll push the boundaries of dance\, taking you on an entertaining journey inspired by mythological and ancestral codes of sound. \nSavion Glover began as a prodigious student of the great Honi Coles and the late Gregory Hines. It was Hines who called him “possibly the best tap dancer that ever lived.” Glover has been boldly breaking new ground for over a quarter century. \nGlover was only eleven when he made his Broadway debut. There\, he played the title character in 1984’s The Tap Dance Kid. Then\, he received his first Tony nomination at fifteen for 1989’s Black and Blue. Also that year\, he appeared alongside Hines and Sammy Davis Jr. in Tap. \nBy the turn of the 1990s Glover was moving freely between stage and screen. He appeared in Hines’ PBS special Gregory Hines’ Tap Dance in America. Also\, he was featured in over forty episodes of the iconic children’s series Sesame Street. Furthermore\, he received a 1992 Drama Desk nomination for Jelly’s Last Jam on Broadway. \nGlover built on the momentum from this award-winning celebration of Jelly Roll Morton. Then\, he became a cultural phenomenon at twenty-three when he co-conceived and starred in the wildly successful 1996 musical Bring in ‘Da Noise/Bring in ‘Da Funk. This was a landmark production tracing the history of Black life in America through tap. The show earned Glover a Tony Award for Best Choreography. Bring in ‘Da Noise/Bring in ‘Da Funk ran for three years at Broadway’s historic Ambassador Theatre\, totaling 1\,130 performances. \nRecommended for fans of Gregory Hines\, John Coltrane\, Jimmy Slyde and Bunny Briggs.

The septet’s 3 horns\, guitar and rhythm provide a many colored palette\, which reflects Peter’s long term experience as The Minnesota’s Orchestra’s timpanist. This show features Peter”s compositions along with select Duke Ellington classics\, providing plenty of space for extraordinary solos from this extraordinary band! \nJake Baldwin: Trumpet \nJoe Mayo: Sax \nNick Syman: Trombone \nChris Olson: Guitar \nTommy Barbarella: Piano \nKameron Markworth: Bass \nPeter Kogan: Drums \nPeter Kogan backed up Blues masters Lightnin’ Hopkins\, Floyd Jones and Honeyboy Edwards\, appeared with the Larry Elgart Big Band and played with jazz\, rock and blues bands in New York City before joining The Minnesota Orchestra as Principal Timpanist from 1986 – 2015. \nIn recent years he has released 4 well reviewed CDs\, and his Monsterful Wonderband (the Septet)\, Quintet and Quartet have appeared at all the major jazz venues around Minneapolis and St Paul\, MN. Peter’s CD: JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT features his most recent compositions. The Peter Kogan Quintet performed at the MetroNOME Brewery in St Paul as part of the Twin Cities 2022 Jazz Fest. The 2024 Jazz Fest featured The Peter Kogan Quintet in a special Pre Festival event\, and the Quintet headlined the Twin Cities Jazz Festival fundraiser at Croooners on March 9th\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Pete McCauley and Tim Cheesebrow are a duo from the Twin Cities\, bringing old tunes to life and having a great time doing it. \nPete McCauley (vocals\, mandolin\, guitar): Pete has played in numerous bands over the years. A founding member and the original guitarist for the rock trio Eddie Mac\, he spent a few years traveling the country\, earned a record contract with SPV Records in Germany\, and released two albums with the independent label Mud Hut Records. Pete also writes material for the Hounds of Finn. Pete met Tim a few years back and asked if they should learn some pub tunes and make some noise together…the rest\, as they say\, is history. Not the kind of history that would make it into any sort of book\, but since it is in the past\, it technically is…history. \nTim Cheesebrow (guitar\, vocals\, occasional mandolin and pennywhistle): Tim is primarily a singer/songwriter. He’ s got 6 or so albums under his belt\, several tours and an extensive solo performance career. He’s always had a spot in his heart for traditional Irish and American folk songs\, and jumped at a chance to play this music with Pete. He’s the founder of Discover Music\, a non-profit that teaches kids to write songs as a healthy mode of self discovery and expression\, and is the author of “Songwriting for Wellness: Using Music to Heal the Mind.” \nfacebook page
