SUMMARY:The Songs That Won the War with Dan Chouinard\, Maud Hixson and Arne Fogel
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 7:00 PM for Dinner and Drink Service.\n\n\nA SINGALONG to remember the May ’45 end of WW2 in Europe\nIn May of 1945\, the Allies secured the defeat of Nazi fascism in Europe with Germany’s unconditional surrender. To remember the end of WWII in Europe and the Mediterranean\, we gather and sing the songs that helped people stick together through traumatic times. We’ll celebrate the cooperation and courage and sacrifice of all those who endured the war\, remember those who died\, and remind ourselves to cherish and defend the ideals of democracy and justice. \nDan Chouinard: Piano and Host \nMaud Hixson: Featured Guest Singer \nArne Fogel: Featured Guest Singer \nYou! The Singing Audience \nDan Chouinard spent months hiking and bicycling France and Italy in search of Minnesota WWII stories in the early 2000s. These stories became the live show “Cafe Europa\,” several versions of which were broadcast statewide on MPR and TPT in the last decade. He’s an all-purpose pianist and accordionist\, accompanist and concert soloist\, and unrepentant sing-along enabler. \nMaud Hixson is a devoted exponent of great songs\, ranging from the classic Great American Songbook to unsung compositions awaiting rediscovery. She’s a favorite of the Jazz and Lincoln Center concerts in NYC where she has been hailed as “gently virtuosic”. \nArne Fogel has sung on countless live radio concerts and productions\, several albums\, and on nearly 1\,500 recording sessions for jingles and film soundtracks. For decades he’s hosted his own shows on MPR\, SiriusXM\, WWTC-AM\, KLBB-AM\, KTWN-FM\, Netradio.com\, and Bing Crosby Internet Radio. \ndanchouinard.com \nmaudhixson.com \narnefogel.com
