Forming in 2000\, the Chicago natives achieved nationwide attention with their first two label-backed records\, 2006’s Knuckles Up and 2007’s Jungle of the Midwest Sea. These releases built on a heavy dose of previously established regional notoriety\, helping the band gain steam early on.\n \n\nThe Killigans are a seven piece “folk-punk” band from Lincoln\, NE. The Killigans “sound” combines the diverse musicals tastes of the bands members; fusing Punk Rock\, Folk\, Country and Western\, Celtic\, European folk\, Americana\, and other types of music into an upbeat\, foot-stomping\, beer-raising party. Lyrically\, the songs range from classic storytelling to rebel songs to ballads to middle class anthems. The Killigans are a band who thrive on live performance and crowd interaction. Core members include Brad Hoffman and the Nebesniak brothers. \nFounded in the cold-ass Minnesota winter of 2017\, Loss Leader is the new project from three working-class dudes from Minneapolis\, MN; Tim Schumann (guitar/vocals)\, Andy Slater (drums)\, and Brandon Stein (bass). With deep roots in the Minneapolis and broader Midwest punk and indie scenes (former The Damn Choir\, Mpls Henrys\, Mad Dogs of Glory\, current The Jeffertons) Loss Leaders’ brand of earnest\, hard charging\, melodic midwest punk has earned them a dedicated and steadily growing fan base in Minneapolis and the region.  \nToilet Rats is a one-person punk experiment created by the elusive Tommy Ratz\, a sewer-dwelling\, VHS-fed character whose warped worldview feels like flipping TV channels in 1983. Drawing inspiration from discarded cassette tapes\, the music collides synth pop\, thrash metal\, and spaghetti western soundtracks into something chaotic and unhinged. Behind the myth is Thomas Rehbein\, a longtime Minneapolis musician who’s played in numerous local bands and produced recordings for artists including members of Motion City Soundtrack. \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

SUMMARY:Aurelio Voltaire at Hook and Ladder
DESCRIPTION: \n\n\n\n EVENT DETAILS \nRSVP ON FACEBOOK \n \n \nThe Hook and Ladder Theater \n\nDoors 7:30pm :: Music 8:00pm :: 18+\nGA: $25 ADVANCE (Box Office) / $28 ADVANCE (Online) / $31 DOOR(Includes Sales Tax\, CC Processing Fee\, Facility Fee\, and Ticketing Fee) \n\n\nBOX-OFFICE Tickets Are Available in The Zen Arcade During Hours of Operation. For More Information visit www.ZenArcadeTHC.comNO REFUNDS \n\n\n\n\n\n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n \nAurelio Voltaire \nw/ The Swongos\n\n“What if Johnny Cash made folks songs for vampires?” The answer might very well describe the music of Aurelio Voltaire.\n \nOften described as a modern day renaissance man\, Voltaire is an accomplished singer/ performer\, author\, creator of films\, animation\, toys and home decor. \n \nAs an internationally touring musician for nearly 30 years\, he is at the forefront of the Gothic and Dark Cabaret genres and has consistantly headlined some of the biggest horror\, sci-fi and comic book conventions. Known for mixing mirth with the macabre\, his music is a vast collection of fun songs about frightful topics. Perhaps that is why he has become such a fan favorite around Halloween\, a time of year where his sizable audience grows substantially and his dark ditties appear on everyone’s Halloween playlists. Walk through a Spirit Halloween and you’re bound to hear a few of his songs\, like Brains! Or Land of the Dead from the Cartoon Network show The Grim Adventures of Billy And Mandy.\n \nMany know him for his songs from the viral animated videos of Daria Cohen’s Vampairseries (The Night\, Land of the Dead\, Zombie Prostitute\, Stuck with You\, Raised by Bats and Chupando) that have a combined 80 million views on Youtube. That IP is presently being developed into an animated series with Aurelio Voltaire as executive producer as well as voicing the main character of Duke.\n\n \n\nOver his thirty year career\, Aurelio Voltaire has released 14 full-length studio albums. \n \nHis latest release is a Summerween album of spooky surf\, ska\, and rockabilly songs called Summerween Surf. It features collaborations with spooky surf legends Los Straitjackets\, Messer Chups\, Satan’s Pilgrims\, Gothic horror punks Calabrese and more!\n \nWhen not touring or recording\, Aurelio Voltaire can be seen in his informative and hilarious Youtube series\, Gothic Homemaking. Like a young Vincent Price taking over for Martha Stewart\, he demonstrates how to turn a boring home into a Gothic lair with the help of his desiccated co-host\, Orville Deadenbacher and a bunch of other recurring monster characters.\n \nThe New York Times did a feature on Aurelio Voltaire and the Gothic Homemaking show calling him\, “The Martha Stewart of Macabre Homemakers” and “a lifestyle guru to people who embrace spookiness in all seasons.” The popularity of the show also lead to a book deal with Quarto Books/Epic Ink producing Aurelio Voltaire’s book\, Gothic Life- The Essential Guide to Macabre Style.\nThe Gothic Homemaking show can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/thelairofvoltaire\n \nAurelio Voltaire has also just completed his first horror feature film\, The Demonatrix. In his directorial debut in which Voltaire also stars\, a priest comes to the aid of a dominatrix when she accidentally summons an incubus demon. The film stars Hannah Fireman (V/H/S\, Creepshow)\, Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) and Larry Fessenden (Jacob’s Wife\, Brooklyn 45). The incubus demon is played by Skinny Puppy frontman\, Nivek Ogre (Repo! the Genetic Opera\, The Devil’s Carnival) in a demon make up effects suit made by Norman Cabrera who worked on DelToro’s Hellboy\, Ghostbusters Afterlife\, Star Trek Beyond and Cabinet of Curiosities. The film will had its US premier in New York City on December of 2025 and is now on tour around the world via film festivals and horror conventions.—The Swongos are an instrumental Surf Band from the St. Croix River Valley on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border. Their music goes from soft\, sweet\, and dreamy to wacky\, wild and psychedelic.  In addition to Surf Music\, they have many styles of music such as Spy\, Exotica\, and Psychedelic Rock sprinkled in their sound.  The Swongos are influenced by traditional surf music like Dick Dale and the Ventures but also groups such as the Pixies\, Frank Zappa\, and Los Cubanos Postizos. \nThe Swongos have played shows with Messer Chups\, The Surfaris\, Eddie Angel (Los Straightjackets)\, Deke Dickerson\, Surfer Joe\, Tony Andreason (The Trashmen)\, The Phantom Surfers\, Los Bitchos\,  Los Yesterdays\, The Intoxicators\, The Volcanos\, Intoxicats\, Surf Zombies\, 13 Tikis\, Trailer Trash\, Black Widows\, Turn Turn Turn\, Gully Boys\, and many more.\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
