Vice Chair w. The Driftless Area & Dread Spells

A scathing sci-fi rock duo with strong post punk, psychedelic, and dark wave influences. Hot and crunchy bass lines backed by guttering guitar parts make war with a bespoke melange of chaotic beats. It’s a 1980’s hangar bay love story on acid, with a terrible attitude, and it’s ready to dive into the sun.

10pm The Driftless Area
 

Originally formed as a songwriting project to stay musically creative in between bands and life transitions, Andy Jensen and Jayce Roberts decided to record those songs and, eventually, became the Driftless Area. Playing shows as a duo around Minneapolis to get the music out there while recording the next album on their own, they crossed paths with drummer Url Hopper and bassist Rich Tudor. The Driftless Area officially added the rhythm section in the Autumn of 2023.

Their new album, Terminal Moraine, marks the end of one era and the fresh start of new stage for the Midwest Rock band influenced by their Twin Cities heroes The Jayhawks, Soul Asylum, and Gear Daddies. As The Driftless Area, they’ve created a sound reminiscent of Son Volt, Gin Blossoms, and R.E.M.


11pm Dread Spells

 

Dread Spells is an instrumental rock band from Minneapolis, MN that formed in 2024. Featuring ethereal soundscapes, semi-abrasive rushes of energy, and multi-layered melodies, Dread Spells combines each of its members’ distinct set of influences into a coherent and fluid tapestry of sound that evokes a wide array of emotions. The band is currently working on recording a concept record about the establishment of the Transcontinental Railroad.
