With a performance history spanning iconic venues like First Ave, The Dakota, and New York’s The Stand, he has been praised for preserving the foundational elements of classic jazz . Beginning his musical journey in childhood—transitioning from piano, bugle, and trombone before embracing the trumpet in 1956—Abdulkarim later honed his craft under Minnesota Orchestra alumnus Manny Laureano. One of his first experiences with music was playing the piano at his uncle’s church as a kid. Gospel, along with listening to Jazz, Funk, Country, Soul, and HipHop growing up definitely shaped his musical style as an Artist. After years of sharpening his skills on piano and finishing his music education in 2018, he decided in 2019 to form his fusion group, KG4.
