The Sophia Kickhofel Quartet creates intriguing sounds and textures that combine jazz traditions with the avante-garde. The group uses original compositions as a vehicle for spreading warmth. The band consists of musicians who have performed all around the world with Grammy award winning musicians. Sophia Kickhofel: Saxophone Jayla Chee: Bass Esteban Castro: Piano Eliza Salem: Drums A native of Apple Valley, MN, Sophia Kickhofel is an alto saxophonist based in New York City. She has performed with musicians including Sean Jones, DeeDee Bridgewater, Victor Goines, and Ulysses Owen’s Jr. at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Sophia seeks to create a warm and welcoming sense of community through the performance of original compositions and traditional jazz repertoire.
