Jazz Age Rumpus III: The Sounds of Chicago
Bask in a day of 1920s and ‘30s jazz! Year three of the festival celebrates Chicago. Listeners and dancers, you’ll get to hear the music of King Oliver, one of the founding fathers of jazz who gave his young protege Louis Armstrong his first big break. Jimmie Noone, the astounding clarinetist who set the bar oh-so-high with his small band at The Nest. And finally, Harlem Hamfats, who kept the party going in the ‘30s, backing up iconic R&B singer Rosetta Howard. Welcome all you dancers in town for Midwest Lindy Fest! We’ll see you on the dance floor.

The Placaters have a sound richly steeped in Americana, roots, soul and blues which produces a frenzied form of lounge music covering the gap between legends like Frank Sinatra and Tom Waits into new territory like Nathaniel Rateliff and Paul Cauthen.
