Their journey began as young kids singing in a family Gospel singing group harmonizing in the heart of Northern MN and Ontario, Canada. She’s spent more than half her life immersed in Cuban music and has woven these deep influences into her own songwriting. She visits Cuba frequently and leads music and dance-focused group trips there. In 2023 she joined forces with Grammy-nominated Álvaro Benavides from New York City on bass and Andrew Gillespie from Minneapolis, MN on drums, to form the latest version of her band Beat Zero. Yazmin has three albums to her name and the debut recording of this particular lineup is set to be released in late 2025. “Yazmin approaches music like she does life and her sound is all the more rich and vivacious for it.
