Art Vandalay w. Leslie Rich & the Rocket Soul Choir
Art Vandalay blends the vintage sounds of The Band and the easy-going vibe of J.J. Cale, creating laid-back Americana music with songs that are “impossibly catchy” (Duluth News Tribune). Last year’s One Night at the Aster is a testament to their “fresh, fluid roots-rock sound,” (Adventures in Americana) timeless songwriting, and relentless performing for more than a decade. www.artvandalaytunes.com Leslie Rich & the Rocket Soul Choir https://www.leslierichmusic.com/
The Flying T w. The Owl-Eyes
The Flying T w. The Owl-Eyes
The Flying T is Tony Mills, the weird kid with the tall tales, who played as a one-man-band at his high school talent show (guitar, harmonica, bass drum, hi-hat). After growing up overseas, he was a character in the New Wave music scene in Tulsa, OK in the mid 80s. He was also a programmer at the first commercial alternative music radio station in Oklahoma. The recent gift of an accordion and the revelations of a capo, have led to a renaissance of creative longing to make new music and perform live again. He has been writing all new modern music, but also has a special place in his heart for folk/country songs, and anything old-timey. He enjoys making videos doing rope tricks with with his fearless cats, and occasionally lighting himself on fire while riding a unicycle. The current band lineup includes bassist Tom Pieper and fiddler Tony Smith. Tony Mills – guitar, vocals, accordion, ropes Tom Pieper – bass Tony Smith – fiddle Neal Doss – Mandolin

Unattractive Giant Monster Residency w. Chris Cashin Band, Sparrowhawk
Unattractive Giant Monster – Unattractive Giant Monster is a post genre, weirdo sewer punk band from the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Fueled by hot dogs and inspired by bands like The Dead Milkmen, Devo, and Diarrhea Planet, UGM is ready to party. Chris Cashin Band – Singer songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Chris Cashin has been fronting and playing in rock and folk bands in the Twin Cities for over a decade. During lockdown he started writing and recording songs at home. Drawing inspiration from artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Neil Young, he creates a captivating blend of rock, folk, and pop music. Backed by some of Minneapolis’ hardest hitters; drummer Joe Ramm, guitarist Brandon Hepola, and bassist Mark Hanson; the group delivers dynamic live performances that audiences won’t forget. Sparrowhawk – Sparrowhawk was formed in Minneapolis in 2018 by four dudes whose previous bands include Private Interests, Mystery Date, Southside Desire, and Radio On. Their sound combines the big riffs and guitar harmonies of ’70s van rock legends like Thin Lizzy with power-pop, glam, and first wave punk sounds from both sides of the Atlantic.

Tea Doggy w. Ghosting Merit & Yellow Ostrich
Tea Doggy w. Ghosting Merit & Yellow Ostrich
Yellow Ostrich Yellow Ostrich is an experimental indie rock project centered around singer/songwriter Alex Schaaf. Emerging in 2009, Schaaf’s lo-fi/bedroom pop emissions were eventually fleshed out by a handful of co-conspirators, and the band issued five more and a handful of EPs before going on hiatus after the release of 2014’s Cosmos. Yellow Ostrich reformed as a five-piece in 2021 and released the lush and inward-looking Soft. Ghosting Merit Ghosting Merit is an indie pop project based in Minneapolis, fronted by songwriter Syd Casey. Their dreamy, melodic sound has evolved into a high energy live performance with the help of band members Bailey Cogan, Emma Garau, and Nathan Johnston. Tea Doggy Tea Doggy is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Tristan Smith. Originally from Asheville, NC, and now based out of Minneapolis, Tea Doggy creates beautifully compelling songs that oscillate between dry wit, sarcasm, humility, and genuine emotional depth.

Nikki Minerva w. Sylvia Dieken, Willem Dafoe Fan Club at White Squirrel
Nikki Minerva w. Sylvia Dieken, Willem Dafoe Fan Club at White Squirrel
Nikki Minerva is a reluctantly honest folkgaze artist based in Chicago, IL. Their upcoming EP “DO YOU SEE ME?” encapsulates all of their greatest fears and desires. Sylvia Dieken is a queer, independent Minneapolis based singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She takes inspiration from artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, Taylor Swift, and Elliott Smith. Her lyrics feel nostalgic and specific while the instrumentals derive from americana, folk, and indie rock influences. Alternative slowcore three-piece Willem Dafoe Fan Club performs hypnotic and haunting music that wouldn’t sound out of place in the latest project of the band’s namesake – the supernatural gothic horror film Nosferatu. The band features Hollis Sparhawk on drums, vocals and Omnichord; Noah Ruona on guitar and vocals; and recently added Jon Marshall on bass. Their music has been compared to lo-fi indie rockers Duster and dream pop band Beach House but it also takes on dark, dramatic elements centered around Sparhawk’s beautiful voice and Ruona’s spare guitar work.

Thor Leseman w. Ida Metsberg
Thor Leseman w. Ida Metsberg
Thor Leseman is a singer/songwriter known for artfully weaving passionate lyrics about life, love, and the ultimate pursuit of freedom. Combined with a soulful punching guitar that is rooted in folk and country but explores expressions of rock, punk and American bluegrass. Thor’s work digs into the American song tradition, uncovering and shedding light to some of the heaviest emotion. Expressing raw rhetoric that encapsulates the listener with the surroundings of the song catapulting them into the center for them to feel the intensity and explore the scape for themselves. Ida Metsberg is a Finnish singer-songwriter residing in New York. With a background in musical theatre, her music is heavy on storytelling and unique lyricism, combined with her classic songwriter sound, fingerpicking on the acoustic guitar. With nods to artists like Carole King and Joni Mitchell, Ida blends pop and folk with intelligent, thoughtful structure and lyrics. Even songs that are more solemn and serious in tone leave you feeling hopeful and introspective. Her craft is her therapy and expression of her deepest self. Ida writes for her own healing, being able to also find comedy in her experiences (such as her single How Do You Do It? a song about social anxiety). This style of genuine rawness and passion resonates with anyone who has loved, lost, and can still celebrate life and look inside, honestly. Ida is notable for playing shows across the United States and with her unique sound and raw honesty, her show is a must-watch. She was named Performer of the Year 2023 by Finlandia Foundation National, her music can be found on all streaming platforms, and she is currently in the studio working on new music, set to be released later this year.
