His hope is that through his playing and his music, he can reach and connect with others.Though now residing in Minneapolis, MN, D.C. Leonhardt was born and raised in Wyoming. The wide open spaces and mountains of home figure strongly in his folk and blues tunes whose sounds are informed by a breadth of musicians from the early 1900s through current times. With songs about love, labor, and religion, he seeks to find and illuminate both the tragedy and the humor in it all. As somewhat of a folk traditionalist, his live shows generally include old folk songs, original tunes, and the stories around both.

Haters Club, Whiskey Rock N Roll Club and Scott Hefte and the Bury ’em Deep at Palmers

Palmer's Bar 500 Cedar Avenue, Minneapolis, MN, United States

Enjoy all the flavors this Saturday night: psychedelic Americana, pure rock-and-roll right off the snake farm, and harmony-driven pop-rock.HATERS CLUB is still flying high after the release of their snarkily-titled 2023 EP - RIYH. The album was featured in the Current's March Scouting Report, Adventures in Americana, and in Dispatch. "Together they've crafted a set of songs that are sonically diverse, but carry the common thread of Kukielka's enigmatic, reflective lyrics and standout vocals," writes AIA. Haters Club was formed in 2010 by friends and former Eclectone labelmates DJ Kukielka, Ted Held, and Amy Rajkowski. After releasing their first EP - The Golden Age of Haters Club - in 2012, the band split up for a long break. Kukielka and Held brought the band back in 2022 with new drummer Erik Olson and former Hojas Rojas bass player Donovan Johnson. Don't let the name fool you, this band revels in sweet harmonies and clever guitars, and connects with audiences wherever they play.WRRC~Loud sounds from the MPLS rock ‘n’ roll underground! Although only a three piece, fuzzed-out rock outfit Whiskey Rock ‘n’ Roll Club MPLS makes a bigger and badder sound—boogie with a bit of bite!—than groups one-and-a-half their size. The same over-performance also holds for Whiskey’s live show bar tabs, making the “Club meeting” live shows a favorite for fans of loud and fast music and bartenders alike. Whiskey Rock ‘n’ Roll Club MPLS is Taylor Carik (vox, guitar), Mark Devaraj (drums, also of Tromp le Monde, High on Stress, Heavy Sixers), and Andy Holmaas (bass, also plays with David Allen and others).Whiskey RRC MPLS have opened for national acts at The Turf Club and 7th St Entry, played the Roots, Rock & Deep Blues Festival, the Stone Arch Festival, SoundUnseen Opening Party, 612 Brewing Outdoor Summer Music Series, Hennepin 5 to 10 Series, and more.SCOTT HEFTE AND THE BURY 'EM DEEP From the ashes of such bands as Seymore Saves the World, Superdanger, Me and My Arrow, and Stolyette, rises a dark and brooding indie-western soundtrack for your apocalypse. Scott Hefte and the Bury ‘em Deep have combined to create hellish landscapes of a dystopian nightmare while not forgetting the righteous influences of old school country, indie-pop, and noise rock. The resulting sound is one of Johnny Cash, Phil Collins, and Godspeed You Black Emperor, fighting a bloodless three way cage match for superiority. No one wins but you, when you dig the music of Scott Hefte and the Bury ‘em Deep.

Michael Gay, Marques Morel (Illinois) and Emmy Woods at Palmers

Palmer's Bar 500 Cedar Avenue, Minneapolis, MN, United States

Join us for a pre-weekend night of fantastic song weavers and awesome story telling!Michael Gay is a country and folk singer-songwriter based in Minneapolis. Over the last 10 years he has established himself through honest and accessible, story-centric songwriting and a whole lot of fingerpicking. A magnetic presence on stage, Michael has occasionally been asked to open shows for national touring acts such as Margo Price, The Mavericks, Andrew Combs, Emily Scott Robinson, Kacy & Clayton and The Cactus Blossoms. Mostly though, he plays in midwest bars.Marques Morel is a Midwestern American singer/songwriter, guitarist/harmonica-wailer, street-performer/wandering minstrel, woodcutter/woodworker, poet/author, and a friend to all. He has shared the stage with notable artists such as Charlie Parr, Arlo McKinley, The Hooten Hallers, Lillie Mae, and Jared Nieman to name a few. With roots running deep in the music of old America, Morel's sound is thick with the nostalgic elements of vintage country, delta blues, dust bowl folk and the Texas Troubadour tradition. His interpretations of namesakes such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Townes Van Zandt and Colter Wall are unique and refreshing, while his original music feels humble and familiar in its lyricism and relatability. Known for his intense and infectious energy on stage and his gritty songwriting and delivery, Marques Morel has been described by fans and critics as "rustic and raw," "guts on the floor," and "wild, happy, dark and sad." He will be found performing either as a one man show accompanied only by his old guitar, harmonica on the rack, and makeshift kick drum, or with his dynamically spirited band of characters who are known collectively as "The Midnight Wind."Emmy Woods was born and raised in rural North Dakota and currently resides in Saint Paul, Minnesota. With hints of country, folk, and blues, Emmy’s songs showcase both her knack for storytelling, her strengths in musical artistry, and her impressive vocal abilities. Audiences enjoy a collection of tunes that are at once soft and strong, fragile and fierce. When asked to describe her music in three words, lover of music Kyle Smith said “Queer Farm Vibes.”
