Award-Winning Songwriter Susan Gibson: Homecoming Show

Award-Winning Songwriter Susan Gibson: Homecoming Show

Dinner and drinks service starts 1 hour before showtimes. Best Known for the Dixie Chicks’ Mega-Hit “Wide Open Spaces” To date, that autobiographical number has sold over 16 million physical copies, and racked up over 180 million streams on Spotify. It was the Country Music Association’s “Single of the Year” in 1999. And it’s just one of the many great songs in Gibson’s large catalog. A vocal powerhouse, downhome and disarmingly funny onstage, Gibson is popular everywhere from Austin (TX) to Amsterdam (Netherlands). Yet she should be much better known in her birthplace of Fridley, Minnesota – “my stomping grounds before I even knew how to stomp,” Gibson jokes. This rare and long-overdue “homecoming” show will help that cause, and should not be missed! Susan Gibson: Guitar and Vocals “There’s the one single element that’s remained true and consistent throughout: her easy-going believability that cuts straight through pretentiousness or fraudulent emotions. It cuts to the core of the human experience. At times it’s bold and brave. At others, she’s incredibly honest with a glimpse of those insecurities, intimate details, and exposed feelings that we all encounter from time to time. ” – New Slang Lubbock Interview www.susangibson.com

Nikki Minerva w. Sylvia Dieken, Willem Dafoe Fan Club

Nikki Minerva is a reluctantly honest folkgaze artist based in Chicago, IL. Their upcoming EP “DO YOU SEE ME?” encapsulates all of their greatest fears and desires.     Sylvia Dieken is a queer, independent Minneapolis based singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She takes inspiration from artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, Taylor Swift, and Elliott Smith. Her lyrics feel nostalgic and specific while the instrumentals derive from americana, folk, and indie rock influences. Alternative slowcore three-piece Willem Dafoe Fan Club performs hypnotic and haunting music that wouldn’t sound out of place in the latest project of the band’s namesake – the supernatural gothic horror film Nosferatu. The band features Hollis Sparhawk on drums, vocals and Omnichord; Noah Ruona on guitar and vocals; and recently added Jon Marshall on bass. Their music has been compared to lo-fi indie rockers Duster and dream pop band Beach House but it also takes on dark, dramatic elements centered around Sparhawk’s beautiful voice and Ruona’s spare guitar work.

Unattractive Giant Monster Residency w. Cut Rate Clones, Ruben

Unattractive Giant Monster Residency w. Cut Rate Clones, Ruben

Unattractive Giant Monster – Unattractive Giant Monster is a post genre, weirdo sewer punk band from the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Fueled by hot dogs and inspired by bands like The Dead Milkmen, Devo, and  Diarrhea Planet, UGM is ready to party. Cut Rate Clones – Cut Rate Clones formed when four dads trawling Craigslist decided to get together to play punk rock instead of joining a bowling league or whatever dads usually do. Since 2022 they have slowly and meticulously crafting a set of original songs reminiscent of late 70s east coast punk and 90s ska punk refined into a modern mash up that will get your head bobbing and your feet skanking. Listening to the Cut Rate Clones will make you smarter, faster, more attractive, increase self confidence, and basically make all your dreams come true.   Ruben – Ruben is a Rock ‘n Soul band from various parts of the Twin Cities metro region in Minnesota. With each member taking lead vocal turns, the songs are often rich with beautiful melodies, close 4 part harmonies and warm horns.

Treedome Presents: Charlie Parr at the Historic Chateau Theatre

Treedome Presents: Charlie Parr at the Historic Chateau Theatre

Join us at the Historic Chateau Theatre for a night of blues with Charlie Parr! Opening acts TBA.Treedome Presents: Charlie Parr at the Historic Chateau TheatreSaturday, May 3rd6:00pm Doors // 7:00pm Show$25 adv. // $35 dosAll AgesCHARLIE PARRIn the music of Charlie Parr, there is a sincere conviction and earnest drive to create. The Minnesota-born guitarist, songwriter, and interpreter of traditional music has released 19 albums over two decades and has been known to perform up to 275 shows a year. Parr is a folk troubadour in the truest sense: taking to the road between shows, writing and rewriting songs as he plays, fueled by a belief that music is eternal and cannot be claimed or adequately explained. The bluesman poet pulls closely from the sights and sounds around him, his lyrical craftsmanship built by his influences. The sounds from his working-class upbringing—including Folkways legends such as Lead Belly and Woody Guthrie—imbue Parr’s music with stylistic echoes of blues and folk icons of decades past. Parr sees himself merely as a continuer of a folk tradition: “I feel like I stand on a lot of big shoulders,” he said in an interview. “I hope that I’ve brought a little bit of myself to the music.”Tickets on sale 11/12 at 10:00AM
