Doug Collins and the Receptionists are once again showing their love for the mighty CCR with their tribute group Creedence Clearwater Replayed. And Brian Just and friends present their new group The Wandering Suns which highlights the greats from California – from The Byrds to Flying Burrito Brothers, and Neil Young to Manassas.   Called “one of the most brilliant songwriters to emerge from the Twin Cities in nearly two decades” by Southernminn.com,Doug Collins and his crack band The Receptionists (which includes members of the classic Minnesota band Gear Daddies), are highlighted in their energetic shows, soulful singing, and honest, emotional songs. As Creedence Clearwater Replayed they honor one of America’s best bands. Radio DJ and music promoter Jessica Paxton says of Collins, “He really cares about his audiences having a good time, and he’s got a fantastic in-between song stage banter too; he’s a super funny guy and the dapperest of dressers.”   In 2024, friends Brian Just, Clay Williams, and Kent Militzer wanted to revisit the cosmic country and harmony vocals they had enjoyed playing in their former band, The Blackberry Brandy Boys (2011-2015). The band solidified their lineup with the additions of frequent BBB guest Dave Boquist, Clay’s Dieselfitter bandmate Dan Peterson, and drummer John Sandbo, The Wandering Suns was born.   Drawing inspiration from legendary artists The Wandering Suns deliver a unique blend of original compositions and cover songs that pay homage to the rich tapestry of Americana music. — BOX-OFFICE Tickets Are Available in The Zen Arcade During Hours of Operation. All tickets purchased will be honored on the new date. *** An Evening with Shannon McNally Grammy nominee Shannon McNally’s live music career began on the jam band circuit of the 1990s with bands like Derek Trucks and Railroad Earth. Since then, her catalog has grown to span the whole of the Americana music spectrum, both writing original songs as well as interpreting the songs of others. She brings a soul-stirring musicality to her craft. Her honest and, at times, elegant voice immediately grabs one by the heartstrings. Not to mention as it turns out, she is also an exceptional electric guitar player.   McNally has fourteen albums to her name and a string of single self-releases on her personal label, Queen Maeve Records. Her latest album, “Live At Dee’s,” is a career retrospective song list captured over four nights in September of 2022 with a revolving band of Nashville musicians. Showcasing McNally’s wonderful storytelling and sense of wry humor, the 18-song disc captures her at her most relaxed in her natural habitat of neighborhood Honky Tonk.    For those who have followed McNally’s twenty-plus-year career, the thing that sticks with listeners the most about her is the timeless effortlessness she brings to all she does. With an impressive catalog and extensive list of collaborators with whom she has written, recorded, and toured; McNally continues to turn out great music across wide-flung ends of the spectrum, defying genre-fication. At home on any stage, from Lincoln Center to the juke joints of Mississippi—she always brings the house down.     #gap-659914155 { padding-top: 30px; } #gap-1237397051 { padding-top: 22px; } #image_1120055337 { width: 100%; } This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. #col-1645257615 > .col-inner { padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; margin: 0px 0px -21px 0px; } #row-1450616792 > .col > .col-inner { padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } #col-423160939 > .col-inner { margin: 0px 0px -27px 0px; } #row-1796833568 > .col > .col-inner { padding: 0px 0px 15px 0px; }
