NEW ORLEANS SUSPECTS “New Orleans Funk From Fats to The Meters”
The Hook and Ladder Theater 3010 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN, United StatesNew Orleans Suspects began playing together in 2009 as a pick-up band at the Maple Leaf in New Orleans. Comprised of some of the most seasoned, highly respected players in NOLA, the group called themselves The Unusual Suspects. Their chemistry was undeniable and by the summer of 2011 they decided to tour full-time, renaming the band New Orleans Suspects. They quickly began attracting large crowds from San Francisco to New York. They have currently released five albums and established themselves as one of New Orleans’ best supergroups.

An Evening of Original Creative Jazz The Steve Kenny Quintet – “Blue Chunks” is a Jazz concert show featuring the original works of Steve Kenny, a popular and engaging Jazz Trumpeter and band leader. His crowd-pleasing Blue Chunks suites have been presented at various Jazz venues over the last year, and this Crooners performance is a precursor to the ensemble going into the studio to document these tunes for release later in the year. Steve was the curator of a weekly Saturday Jazz series at kj’s hideaway, and before that at the Black Dog Cafe, producing over 400 Saturday Night Jazz shows. His latest recording, “Quartets”, includes original compositions played by 4 separate ensembles of Twin Cities Jazz musicians. in 2019, the national Jazz Journalists Association named Steve as a “Minnesota Jazz Hero” for his work in the Jazz community and lifelong devotion to the Idiom.
