Based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Maud made her Guthrie Theater debut in the Noel Coward revue Coward’s Women, also appearing in Park Square Theater’s The Soul of Gershwin. Her newest recording is devoted to the music of her mentor, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, which earned a 2024 Bistro Award. Rick Carlson taught himself to play the piano by studying the vast works of Count Basie and Duke Ellington and capitalizing on a long string of happy accidents. He has been the pianist for the Wolverines Big Band since 1980. “Maud Hixson’s anticipated and thoroughly polished performances are just what we all need to hear. Main Stage Showroom 6161 Hwy 65 NE, Minneapolis, MN, United StatesDinner and cocktail seating and service begins 1 hour before showtimes. A Live Radio Drama The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society celebrates the outdoor season with two spooky campfire stories, performed in the style of a classic radio broadcast, including commercial breaks, eerie music, and live sound effects. “The Shadow People” from Hall of Fantasy (1952): A woman, convinced her mother was murdered by mysterious shadow people, enlists the aid of famed paranormal investigator, Dr. Hesselius. “Song of the Bittersweet” from Dead Men’s Tales (2020): In this original radio drama written by Eric Webster, a mysterious stowaway heralds doom for the embattled crew of the Bittersweet. Shanan Custer Joshua English Scrimshaw Tim Uren Eric Webster The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society performed their first staged old-time radio recreation in 2016 at the Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater in Minneapolis. Since then, they have appeared at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, Daleko Arts in New Prague, and the Wabasha Street Caves in Saint Paul. Their recreations were also featured monthly from 2017 to 2019 at the James J. Hill Center and from 2020 to 2022 at Park Square Theater in Saint Paul. Currently, the MORLS can be seen regularly at Crooners Supper Club and the Bryant-Lake Bowl theater. “An artisanal, old-school way of making entertainment… The fun is in watching these fine actors work almost exclusively with their voices … and to see them create a sepia-toned world with handmade sound effects.” – Pioneer Press GhoulishDelights.com
