The Minnesota Music Resistance presents our inaugural awareness and fundraising event – Fight for YOUR Civil Rights – supporting ACLU MN. We’ll be gathering Sunday June 22 at the Hook and Ladder Theater and presenting entertainment that represents a variety of genres on multiple stages from 2:00 – 7:00 PM.  Our Goal Is To: Help our community through funding/donating to the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota Foundation. Inform and educate the attendees through direct conversation and printed materials as well as continued access to community. Entertainment includes: Main stage: Ganser (last) Christy Costello  Turn Turn Turn The Silent Treatment The Muatas Dad Bod (starting at 2pm) Lounge Stage: The Daily Norm, Walken Schweigert of Open Flame, Strong Buffalo, M.A.Y. The Hook’s outdoor space will also be utilized for non-profit organizations to share information and conversations time. Additionally we will have Open Flame Theatre performing sets.  The Minnesota Music Resistance uses music, good trouble and grassroots, collective activism to raise resources and to support and connect communities. Peel Me a Grape – Songs by Dave Frishberg with Connie Evingson & Jon Weber

An Evening of Classic Vocal Jazz Connie explores the Dave Frishberg Songbook from the witty and swinging (“My Attorney Bernie”, “Peel Me a Grape”) to the senstive and sublime “Listen Here”, “You Are There”). Pianist Jon Weber and bassist Steve Pikal join Connie in playing selections from her CD of Frishberg songs “Little Did I Dream” as well as other Frishberg favorites. Connie Evingson: Vocals Jon Weber: Piano Steve Pikal: Bass Vocalist Connie Evingson is known for exploring a wide variety of musical styles. She has been a featured guest artist with Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, Jazz at Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis, the Minnesota Orchestra conducted by Doc Severinsen, Vocalessence, the JazzMN Orchestra and other esteemed organizations. She is a longtime member of the popular vocal jazz group Moore By Four, and is a two-time recipient of both the McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians and the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant.
