Leonhardt is a mostly traditional folksinger whose songs focus on labor, religion, love, and hard living. His live sets are a blend of story and song, humor and tragedy, all seeking to illuminate the ordinary. D.C. Leonhardt’s debut solo album, (roughly), was released in October of 2024. The band is in the process of recording the next album, The Newer Testament. The Weeping Covenant bio: Based in Minneapolis, MN, The Weeping Covenant is headed by vocalist and songwriter, Michael Beatrez. Writing from a lyrically driven perspective, he generally touches on themes of hope, vulnerability, and love. Beatrez leans into his comfortable sweet spot by singing over soft fingerstyle guitar ballads and rock songs that drive with measured intensity. The music of The Weeping Covenant is rooted in Americana, with pop sensibilities akin to Jeremy Messersmith, piercing storytelling of Jason Isbell, and spacious, sustained vocals that melt into reverb like the ballads of John Denver. |
